A quiet question sits behind this artwork: how much nature do we still carry within us? Not in a park or garden, but in our minds and everyday lives. Interwoven Forms I reflects on how the natural world, once woven through everything we did, can gradually fade into a schematic memory.
An original woodcut from a series of nine
Interwoven Forms I is an original, hand-printed woodcut made from a carved wooden block. It belongs to a series of nine signed impressions. Printmaking is the medium for which the image was conceived; this is not a reproduction of another painting. Its format and technique also make it an accessible way to begin collecting original art.
From organic form to sign

Organic shapes appear fragmented and almost schematic, as though the landscape had been emptied of detail until only a sign remained. It is a visual metaphor for a real distance: when we stop looking closely at nature, we can also lose it within ourselves.
Nature fading from view

I work in the Canary Islands, surrounded by singular landscapes such as the laurel forest. Their closeness makes me aware of how easily we can stop seeing them. The work reflects on that disconnection: a natural environment that should be interwoven with daily life slowly moves outside the frame.
Forms that interweave and break apart
To interweave is to join, cross and bind. In the print, forms still seek and cross one another even as they begin to fragment. I avoided easy symmetry so the composition could behave organically rather than geometrically.
Humans within the weave
We often imagine nature as something outside ourselves, yet we are another thread in the same network. What we do marks the landscape, and what happens to the environment ultimately affects us. The artwork is a reminder of that connection.

This is a work with a clear idea behind it, suitable as the first piece in a collection or as a meaningful gift. It shares its attention to living structures with Tejidos de la Naturaleza.
