Tejidos de la Naturaleza – Original textile artwork

Tejidos de la Naturaleza emerged as a visual reflection on drought and the mark left by the absence of water on the Canary Island landscape. Inspired by two photographs taken at Las Peñitas reservoir—one of cracked earth and another of the surrounding area—the work turns sewing and embroidery into languages of protest and memory.

Blue thread traces some of the cracks in the ground, drawing attention to what is missing: water, a vital and increasingly scarce element. The stitches become lines of protest that underline the fragility of the territory and the urgency of reconsidering our relationship with nature.

Each stitch reclaims the beauty of the arid landscape and invites us to see it not as empty, but as a silent witness to climate change already felt across the islands.
